  27. This file contains last-minute updates that are not found in the User's 
  28. Guide or in any addendum accompanying the display adapter.  Please read 
  29. this file before proceeding with the installation.

  40. 3.0     Installation Notes for Windows 95 mach64 enhanced display driver 
  41.  
  42. NOTE: The following installation notes are based on a diskette install.
  43.       If you have downloaded the display driver, please consult 
  44.       64W95101.TXT for appropriate installation instructions. 
  45.       
  46. The Windows 95 mach64 enhanced display driver is a Windows 95 mini driver.  
  47. It is installed and configured using the standard Windows 95 configuration 
  48. utilities. 
  49.                                       
  50. Note: Windows 95 will require a re-start to implement certain display 
  51.       settings 
  52.  
  53. 1) Start Windows 95. 
  54.  
  55. 2) Click the right mouse button in an empty area of the desktop and select 
  56. the Properties entry. 
  57.  
  58. 3) Select the Settings page of the Display Properties sheet. 
  59.  
  60. 4) Click the Change Display Type... button. 
  61.  
  62. 5) In the Adapter Type area, click the Change... button.  
  63.  
  64. 6) The Select Device Dialog box will appear.  Click the Have Disk... button.  
  65.  
  66. 7) Insert the display driver install disk, specify the source drive, and 
  67. click OK.  Highlight the macxw4 entry and click OK to copy the driver to 
  68. your hard disk. 
  69.  
  70. 8) If you have not already configured your monitor type do so now. In the  
  71. Monitor Type area, click the Change... button and select the appropriate  
  72. monitor.  Click OK to apply your changes. 
  73.  
  74. 9) Click Close to return to the Settings page. Click "Close" or "Apply" 
  75. to initiate your changes. 
  76.  
  77. 10) Restart the computer to run Windows 95 using this new driver.

  79. To change the color depth, resolution and/or font size 
  80.  
  81. When Windows 95 is up, you may configure your color depth, resolution  
  82. and/or font size in the Display Properties sheet as follows.  
  83.  
  84. 11) Click the right mouse button in an empty area of the desktop 
  85. and select Properties.   
  86.  
  87. 12) On the Settings page of the Display Properties sheet, choose your 
  88. preferred color support, resolutions and font size. Click "OK" or "Apply" 
  89. to initiate your changes.

  92. 13) On the Adjustment Page of the Display Properties sheet, you may further  
  93. customize your display.

  95. Note that these values reflect the monitor configuration you performed  
  96. in step 8 of this procedure.

  98. 14) Click Apply or OK to switch to the new setting.

  106. 4.0     Features 
  107.  
  108. This diskette contains the latest ATI Windows 95 mach64 enhanced display  
  109. driver.  You should use this driver if you have problems with the driver 
  110. provided on the Microsoft Windows 95 CDROM or if you wish to access the  
  111. new features provided by this driver.

  114. The Windows 95 mach64 enhanced display driver supports the following  
  115. additional features: 
  116.  
  117.  - The ATI Adjustment page is added to the Display Properties sheet to 
  118.    provide monitor setup and adjustment. Use this page to adjust your  
  119.    monitors refresh rate and adjust your screen size and position.  
  120.  
  121.    1) To invoke the ATI Adjustment page click the right mouse button  
  122.    in an empty area of the desktop.

  124.    2) Select the Properties entry.  
  125.     
  126.    3) Select the ATI Adjustment tab.

  129.  - The ATI Adapter Settings page is added to the Adapter Properties sheet 
  130.    to provide low level hardware configuration.  
  131.     
  132.    1) To invoke the ATI Adapter Settings page activate the System applet  
  133.    in the Control Panel.

  135.    2) Select the Device Manager tab. 
  136.  
  137.    3) Double-click the Display adapters item in the list. 
  138.     
  139.    4) Double-click the ATI adapter entry.

  141.    5) Select the Settings tab.

  146. 5.0     Windows 95 mach64 enhanced display driver problems 
  147.   
  148. - The Windows 95 mach64 enhanced display driver is capable of using monitor 
  149.    timing data contained within Windows 95. This data is selected by  
  150.    configuring a monitor type at Windows 95 installation time or via the  
  151.    "Settings" page of the display properties sheet. If you change the  
  152.    selected monitor type via the "Settings" page of the display properties  
  153.    sheet the new timing data may not take effect until after restarting  
  154.    Windows 95. A solution to this problem is to always restart Windows 95  
  155.    after changing the monitor type.

  157.  - The Windows 95 mach64 enhanced display driver is capable of using monitor 
  158.    timing data contained within Windows 95. This data is selected by  
  159.    configuring a monitor type at Windows 95 installation time or via the  
  160.    "Settings" page of the display properties sheet. The Windows 95 mach64  
  161.    enhanced display driver may incorrectly interpret Windows 95 monitor  
  162.    timing data for some older monitors which require interlaced modes.  
  163.    This may cause some options to be disabled. A solution to this problem  
  164.    is to select one of the "(Standard monitor types)" available via the  
  165.    settings page of the display properties sheet. 
  166.  
  167.  - In Windows 95, display drivers can be installed via the "Add New 
  168.    Hardware" wizard. When the Windows 95 mach64 enhanced display driver 
  169.    is installed via the "Add New Hardware" wizard the "Settings" page does 
  170.    not get installed into the mach64 display adapter property sheet. A 
  171.    solution to this problem is to use the driver installation procedure 
  172.    described above.
